Motivate Your Affiliates to Maximize Your Profits

By: Rebecca Taylor

One of the most important things you can do is make the time to motivate your affiliates. Your affiliate partners and downline need more than materials and support. They require praise and motivation as well.

Many affiliate programs forget to set aside the time to motivate their affiliate partners. Teams that lack motivation lack profit. Second only to a good product is good morale. Keep in mind that happy partners are successful partners.

The right attitude and motivation means that your affiliates will ultimately work harder. More importantly, they will work more effectively and make more money. More cash flow for them means the same for you.

Affiliate Marketing Incentives and Motivation

Nothing motivates the common man as much as money. The primary reason we work so hard at maintaining a powerful downline is money. Generally, human beings don't work because it's fun. We don't enjoy the requirements work puts on us. We do what's required for a piece of that almighty dollar.

Many affiliate programs choose one specific time of year to increase commissions. When affiliate partners realize that their profits will be higher, they work harder to make sales. Oftentimes, monetary incentives work so well that the program sponsor decides to stick with the increased commission for an extended period of time.

Increasing commissions for all affiliates may not be an option if your affiliate program is relatively new. Consider a promotional offer for select affiliate partners instead. Choose a number of highly motivated participants and offer a bonus to commissions.

Set weekly or monthly goals for your affiliate partners and downline. Review their performance often and make time to offer motivation as needed. Even the most highly motivated affiliates often require extra motivation or advice. Be there to give it.

Motivational incentives could include: anyone who sells a pre-chosen number of products, refers the most new customers or recruits the most downline will receive a bonus. People are motivated by monetary bonuses and free items. Use those items to your advantage.

Communication with Affiliates

Communication with your affiliate partners and your downline is very important. Use e-mails and newsletters to their full potential. Put forth the effort and watch your profits increase as exponentially as your downline.

Successful affiliate programs offer monthly newsletters. Newsletters allow you to keep your affiliates informed and updated. They also allow you to feature your star players. Mentioning those who had the highest profit gives other affiliates a new goal. Seeing a list of featured affiliates will make others work hard for the same notoriety.

Your website is another place that to feature top ranking affiliates. This is a motivational tool that has been in practice for many years. Having their photo featured on the company site is a privilege that many strive for. They receive the attention they feel they've earned. Praise is a highly effective motivational tool.

Letters of congratulations are a very popular form of communication. Get their attention by giving details of their success. Tell them you're happy to have them on your team. Make them aware that you appreciate all they're doing for the company.

Occasionally an otherwise successful associate may fall behind on sales. Take the time to write a personalized letter. Always make a point to detail their past successes to show them that you're aware of what they're capable of. They will appreciate the positive criticism and motivation.

The other side of communication is listening. Listen to what your affiliate downline says when they contact you for advice or consultation. They may offer great insight into what motivates them. Really get to know your affiliate partners and downline so you can maximize profits for everyone involved.

It is very important that your affiliates and their downline feel that you are taking an interest in their success. Remember that their success is your success. Without your affiliates, you do all of the work on your own. Strive to maintain a healthy and successful affiliate team.
